Frank Borrington beat George Bennett by PTS in round 8 of 8

  • Date: 1934-02-25
  • Location: The Ring, Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom
  • "Sir Harry Lauder was a ringside patron at Belfast Ring on Sunday. In the principal bout over eight rounds, Frank Borrington (Leicester) received a very narrow points verdict over George Bennett (Manchester). The bout itself was very mediocre and thrills were few and far between. The Manchester boy was the better boxer; his left hand work gained him the early rounds against a heavier opponent. Until the sixth round Borrington was dead slow but came along better in the final rounds to receive a somewhat lucky points verdict."
