Frank Gillio was a flyweight boxer who fought under the alias "Frank Berry." He died August 9, 1931, after the amputation of his right leg, which had been crushed by the sideswiping of a truck near Paola, Kansas, on the night of August 7. Gillio and nine other people were returning from boxing matches in Osawatomie, Kansas. Norman Martin, 18, was held in Paoa on a "charge of driving a truck with illegal lights and of illegal width."
