"Ben Villaflor, 19-year-old sensation from the Philippines, scored the most impressive win of his career Tuesday night by stopping 'Irish' Frankie Crawford, 131, of Los Angeles at 2:52 of the 1st round in a scheduled 10-round main event. Villaflor, 129 1/4, caught Crawford with a straight right and vicious left that sent the ranking featherweight and junior lightweight contender halfway through the ropes. With his right arm slung over the middle strand, Crawford's legs quivered as he tried desperately to get up. He managed to straighten up at the count of nine and after referee Walter Cho checked him the bout continued. Villaflor then immediately caught Crawford with another left that sent Crawford into the ropes and on the floor. Cho then stopped the bout." -United Press International
