"In the other feature last night, Frankie Crawford of Hollywood, Calif., fought a draw with San Diego's Gildardo Gallardo, in a bout which started at a slow pace and picked up speed. Crawford, a slight favourite, had his hands full with the aggressive Gallardo and once went to the canvas in the 8th round but came back strong." -Las Vegas SUN
- This bout was a co-main event shared with a 10 rounder between Buddy Boggs and Cipriano Hernandez
- This card helped raise funds for Las Vegas middleweight Ferd Hernandez who had undergone three operations for a detached retina. Promoter Bill Miller and NSAC Jim Deskin announced that $1,851.78 from the gate and along with separate special donations, that over $2,000 was realized for Hernandez.
- Also on this card was three exhibition bouts between Freddie Little and Charlie Shipes, Sonny Liston and Chester Walton, and Jerry Quarry and his brother Mike Quarry (Mike was still a 17 year old amateur and this was also Jerry's first workout since the body cast from the broken back suffered before the Jimmy Ellis fight had been removed).
