"Frankie Narvaez had a victory over contender Luis Molina to his credit today and a bright future ahead of him. Unranked and unknown, the Puerto Rican-born New Yorker made his debut as a MSG headliner and television performer a double success by outpunching the 5th ranked Molina in a brisk 10 rounder Friday night. The rugged little newcomer staggered his foe three times - in the 4th, 8th and 10th rounds - and opened cuts over and under the Californian's right eye. He also drew blood from Luis' nose in the lively exchanges. Molina was victimized by punches tossed after the bell following the 8th and 9th rounds but he made no protest. Narvaez won by majority decision." -Associated Press
Unofficial scorecards
- AP - 5-5 (but had Narvaez ahead on supplemental points due to his harder punches)
- UPI - 7-3 Narvaez
