Repoz's real name was Frank Sadler, he fought under the name Repoz, which was the name of his stepfather. His family included, Roger Repoz who had a nine year major league with the New York Yankees, California Angels, and Kansas City A's.
Sadler was a caddy, before taking up boxing in high school. After his career ended, he became the assistant golf pro at the Bellingham Country Club; advancing on to the job as head pro in 1936. Sadler golfed in tournaments in the Northwest and Canada, competing in the Canadian open, and capturing the Northwest Professional Golfer's Association's Senior Title in 1957, on his home course in Bellingham.
In 1973, Sadler drew media attention when he enrolled as a 67 year old freshman at Bellingham's Western Washington University, where both of his sons had attended.
