The two boxers fought a slow first round. And then began a thrilling toe-to-toe battle in the 2nd round. Apostoli stunned Lewis several times. Apostoli was much more successful than Lewis in the infighting, for most of the bout. Lewis hurt Apostoli at the end of the 9th, and took the 10th from Apostoli, who was worn out.

Though the scores weren't revealed, all three officials scored widely for Apostoli.
