Solly Krieger 160 lbs lost to Fred Apostoli 159 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

Apostoli won 7 out of 10 rounds according to the New York Times.

"Fred Apostoli from San Francisco, moved into the middleweight title picture today as a result of a decisive 10-round victory over the heavy-hitting Solly Krieger of Brooklyn. Apostoli, making his second New York appearance last night at the Hippodrome before 4,500 fans, impressed ringsiders with his sharp-shooting ability in atoning for a previous setback, at the hands of Ken Overlin, in his debut here. Before making any gestures in the direction of the American middleweight champion, Freddie Steele of Tacoma, Apostoli said today he wanted to square accounts with Overlin, whose victory on points over Apostoli was considered questionable by many experts. After battering Krieger for eight of the first nine rounds, Apostoli sustained a bad gash in the corner of his right eye in the last round and finished under difficulties." -Associated Press
