Notes

Billed for the bantamweight championship of the Pacific Coast. According to San Francisco Chronicle the "City Bantamweight Title" was at stake. The two boxers had fought seventy-five rounds at the same venue on the evening of June 3, 1890, but the boring bout was stopped at 2 a.m. and was to resume at 8 p.m. The last fifteen rounds of the bout were "very satisfactory." "Fred Bogan and Del Hawkins continued their fight at the Golden Gate Club last night for the bantam-weight championship. Bogan won in the seventeenth round." (San Francisco Evening Bulletin) "In the seventeenth and last round Hawkins landed a good one on Bogan's neck with his right. This blow roused the fire in Bogan and he rushed at Hawkins, crowding the latter into a corner, and then sent in blow after blow, with both right and left, on Hawkins' face, and finally landed the knock-out blow on Hawkins' jaw. The latter fell to the floor, striking the back of his head, completely knocked out." (Daily Alta California)
