Fox fighting sporadically attempted to launch haymakers from the outside in an attempt to knock out the much younger Beshore. Beshore, ignoring this, worked his way inside and pounded Fox to the body to win at least seven rounds. A clash of heads in the 5th produced a cut on Beshore's temple, which turned the blonde-haired boxer's hair red. All three judges' scorecards awarded Beshore the unanimous decision by two points.
This was the final Spokane bout of Tiger Jack Fox's career, as Fox's license with the State of Washington was set to expire on July 1, 1948. Fox was officialy 41 years old at the time of this bout, but few people believed it, many feeling he was closer to 50 years old. Had Fox won this bout, it was believed that promoter Jack Powers would have brought Joey Maxim to Spokane to face Fox prior to the July 1st deadline.
