"Carmelo Bossi of Italy outpointed champion Freddie Little of the U.S. in a close 15-round decision to win the world junior middleweight title here Thursday night. Bossi emerged in the final rounds of the match with strong combinations of rights and lefts to Little's face to take an edge over the American. In the earlier rounds, the two boxers had spent most of the time carefully watching each other. As the match ended, referee Roland Dakin of Britain, who was the sole judge of the match, immediately raised Bossi's arm for victory. Little, 34, was clearly tired in the final rounds. The Italian, 30, started pounding him after fighting most of the match in defense. With the exception of the last three rounds, the fight was slow and even." -Associated Press
