Gabriel Bracero 142 lbs beat Carl McNickles 142 lbs by UD in round 6 of 6

In a welterweight matchup on the undercard of the Rigondeaux-Addy fight card at B.B. King's, technical fighter Gabriel 'Tito' Bracero, a Puerto Rican boxer now out of Sunset Park, New York, fought the best bout of the evening against Carl McNickles of Gulfport, Mississippi, winning a six round unanimous decision. The bout featured a contrast of styles and abilities. Bracero, 8-0, decisioned his first eight opponents but at the time of this bout still lacked a knockout punch. McNickles, on the other hand, came into this bout 6-2 with six knockouts in six wins! It was technical boxer versus power puncher. Bracero consistently landed left and right hooks to the head that scored, alot of straight right hands and alot of power shots. McNichles landed some very good counter right hooks. His problem was that he was standing in front of Bracero, allowing him to score, when lateral movement would have made this fight much closer. Bracero won this fight in the third, when he dropped McNickles. McNickles got right back up and came back in the third, cutting Bracero over the left eyebrow, but it was unclear whether the cut was caused by a punch or an accidental headbutt. Bracero's strengths were his right jab, power shots, and excellent movement, and overall appeared an excellent technical fighter who wanted to win this bout 'a little bit more'. Both fighters appeared in excellent condition, and loser McNickles still appeared to be a serious, dangerous opponent. Bracero's corner did an excellent job working the cut, a nonfactor in this bout.
