Bracero won the first, Mathis the second, and the third round was even. Bracero won the last three rounds behind his left jab as Mathis appeared to slow down. Bracero was cut on the corner of the left eye from an accidental butt in the second. Both fighters were warned by referee Gary Rosato for fighting after the bell in round two.
