"Veteran Gaspar Ortega of Mexico won a surprise 10 round split decision over 20 year old Billy Bello of New York in their nationally televised fight at MSG Saturday night. Ortega drew blood from Bello's nose in the 2nd round and kept up a punishing barrage to Bello's face. Both were splattered with blood at the finish. Bello started coming back strong late in the fight and the strongly partisan crowd roared. But Ortega was too much for him and won the last round and the fight. There were no knockdowns, but Ortega staggered Bello in the 10th." -Associated Press
