  • Location: Coliseum, Chicago, Illinois, USA
  • Notes

"Gene Tunney, American light heavy weight champion, had a shade the better of Jim Delaney, of St. Paul, Minn., in a ten-round no-decision contest here, in the opinion of newspaper men at the ringside. Tunney injured his right hand in the second round and was unable to use it effectively for the remaining eight rounds. For the last three rounds he did not even attempt to punch with it. Physicians who examined (Tunney's) hand after the fight said it had been badly fractured." (Indianapolis Star) Newspaper decision from the Chicago Tribune (Bob Soderman).
