"George Araujo, 134 1/4, of Providence built up an overpowering lead in the early rounds tonight to win a unanimous decision over Del Flanagan, 139 3/4, of St. paul, Minn., in a 10 round bout at the Rhode Island Auditorium. Araujo started fast and nearly knocked out Flanagan with a couple of left hooks in the 1st round. He had a decided edge until the 6th which was a slugfest that saw both fighters battling it out toe-to-toe. The 7th was the same though Araujo's blows seemed to have more power. After that Flanagan began to take command of the bout but couldn't overcome Araujo's early lead." -United Press
