"George Chuvalo, the Canadian heavyweight champion, has been offered $20,000 to box two-time former world titlist Floyd Patterson. That is, if Patterson accepts a $50,000 guarantee to meet the Toronto campaigner sometime in October at Boston Garden. It all came about when Chuvalo gained a 3rd round TKO over former New England king Don Prout of Providence, R.I., Monday night at Sargentifield. Chuvalo floored Prout twice in the 3rd and when the latter got up the second time the referee called a halt at 1:09." -Associated Press
- Boston promoter Sam Silverman made the offer to match Chuvalo and Patterson, and the bout did take place. However, it took place the following February and it was a Madison Square Garden promotion.
