"Canadian heavyweight champion George Chuvalo stopped Tony Ventura on a TKO at 2:21 of the 3rd round of a scheduled 10 round non-title fight Tuesday night. Chuvalo of Toronto took the win after opening cuts over both of Ventura's eyes and the bridge of his nose. Ventura of Lockport, NY, came on strong in the 1st round but Chuvalo knocked him down for the mandatory eight count in the 2nd. Chuvalo floored Ventura two more times in the 3rd and referee Pete Sacco stopped the fight as Ventura struggled to his feet after the third knockdown." -United Press International
