"George Chuvalo chased Willie Besmanoff for two rounds Tuesday night before putting his German-born foe away in the 3rd round of a 10 round heavyweight bout. Chuvalo, at 217, ended the bout with a smashing right to the jaw. Referee Barney Felix raised the Canadian's hand with 1:02 elapsed. Earlier in the round, a sweeping left hook sent Besmanoff down for an eight count. Outweighed by nearly 20 pounds, Besmanoff attempted to stay away from Chuvalo. He was able to stay out of reach in the opening round, but Chuvalo sent his foe reeling with a thumping combination in the second." -Associated Press
