George Tetzie died of injuries sustained from a March 31, 1922 bout with Carl Miller in Eugene, OR, USA. According to the Eugene Guard, the referee stopped the bout when it appeared Tetzie was "punch-groggy." Tetzie appeared normal when he was returned to his corner, he conversed clearly and intelligently with his corner. Tetzie remained seated for ten to fifteen minutes, before being carried to the dressing room. It was reported that Tetzie fell when he tried to stand on his own. Tetzie was transported to the hospital, where he died the following day of a brain hemorrhage.
