"Gil Turner piled up an impressive early margin and then coasted to a 10 round unanimous decision over favored Del Flanagan Thursday night in a non-televised outdoor welterweight bout. The Philadelphian decked Flanagan for a nine count near the end of the 1st round with a short right jab. Flanagan, a St. Paul native, began recovering in the closing rounds, but it was too late. There were no other knockdowns in the fight. Flanagan suffered a small cut under his left eye, while Turner emerged unscathed." -United Press
