Gil Turner 152 lbs lost to Ralph Dupas 144 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

"Ralph Dupas, who celebrated his 23rd birthday a day late with a shutout victory over favored Gil Turner, said today he wants a title fight with welterweight champion Virgil Akins. The New Orleans youngster, a 7-5 underdog, was never in trouble against the 4th ranked Turner who entered the ring with a 7 1/2 pound pull in weight. Turner, the heavier hitter, never could catch the elusive Dupas. There were no knockdowns in the televised bout and the only mark on either fighter was a slight cut on Turner's forehead, the result of an 8th round butt, which also left a bruise on Dupas' head." -United Press International

  • Unofficial UPI scorecard - 50-39 Dupas
  • Unofficial AP scorecard - 50-40 Dupas
