Redl started off effectively against Turner, appearing to be a quicker and more accurate puncher than Turner. Turner began to turn the tide in the 3rd, when he landed a short left hook to the chest, which floored Redl for a three count. By the 6th round, Turner's body attack began to show an effect on Redl. In the 7th, Turner cut Redl under the right eye, and over the last three rounds Redl was reduced to fighting in spurts.
The bout was contracted at a weight of 150 lbs. Since Turner failed to make the contracted weight, he was suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission for 30 days.
