According to an article in the Sept. 3, 1927 EVERETT DAILY HERALD newspaper (of Washington state, USA): SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Wise-cracking from the ringside does not faze Gonzalo Rubio. He doesn't understand a word of English, although he can make his fists talk American in the ring. The 19 year old holder of the Mexican flyweight championship has scored five successive knockouts since coming to this country. The only blemish on his records of 20 knockouts in 61 battles is the knockout he sustained recently at the hands of Speedy Dade, Manila contender for the flyweight title.
