Billy Aird 198 lbs lost to Gregorio Peralta 198 lbs by TKO in round 4 of 10
- Date: 1973-09-21
- Location: Ernst Merck Halle, Hamburg, Germany
"Veteran Greg Peralta of Argentina, now fighting out of Germany, was awarded a 4th round TKO victory over Billy Aird when the fight was halted due to a cut and damaged right eye. Aird, who drew a big hand from over 4,000 fans in the Mercke Hall, claimed that Peralta's thumb caused the injury and demanded a return bout. Billy won the 1st round as he scored with sharp left jabs as Greg tried to move to close quarters. Peralta did get inside in the 2nd to hook to the body, but Billy still scored with his left and crossed a hard right that stunned Peralta for a moment. By the end of the round the puffing around Billy's eye began to show. Greg went more on the attack in the 3rd but also drew a warning to 'keep his punches up.' Early in the 4th a left hook completely closed Billy's eye and a few moments later when a cut appeared under the eye, the referee called a halt." -Boxing Illustrated, January 1974 issue
