  • "Gus Lesnevich, 165 1/2, rising young middleweight from Edgewater, N.J., battered Lou Brouillard, 163, of Worcester, Mass., ex-ruler of the division, into submission in a gruelling 10-round bout at the Hippodrome, tonight, before 1,200 fans. The one-time middleweight and welterweight champion never had a chance against the sharp-hitting Lesnevich. Gus staggered the stocky New Englander in the 2nd and 7th and halted a last round rush with three stinging rights to the mid-section. Brouillard, paunchy and slow, finished the fight with a badly cut and swollen left eye. There were no knockdowns but he was a badly beaten man when the final bell sounded. Lesnevich was unmarked." -Associated Press
