Gustavo Lenevé was originally from France, where he started taking boxing lessons in 1909 in the gymnasium of Geo Max. He would win the 1913 Swiss amateur title, after moving to Switzerland in 1912. Soon afterwards he emigrated to Argentina, where he would turn professional. Following his boxing career he would go on to manage Victorio Campolo.
