Career Review

Hal Bagwell was for years credited with the longest winning streak in boxing history.

The Ring Record Book listed Bagwell as Number 1 on their all-time list of most consecutive wins. From 1938-1948, Bagwell was credited with posting a 180-0 winning streak. Even the Guinness Book of World Records listed Bagwell for years as the record holder for most consecutive wins. However, in recent years, there are some doubts as to his winning run.

A number of credible boxing sources in the years after the war described Hal Bagwell's wartime record as "sketchy." If Bagwell did win 180 fights in a row at one point, then many bouts are undocumented and missing. That being the case, Bagwell's win, loss and draw record during World War II is unconfirmed and unproven. BoxRec lists Bagwell's verified sanctioned pro bouts. 100-5-8 is a lot less than the purported 180 win streak "claim."
