"John Griffin and Hal 'TNT' Carroll fought an even fight for the first five rounds but it was apparent that Griffin was having trouble solving Carroll's ring-style - which is to say he had none. Carroll's lunging, roundhouse swooshes, ducking and backing up were a puzzle but in the 6th round, Carroll's vaunted 'TNT' exploded and he was hitting Griffin from all angles. The 9th round produced the only knockdown. A straight left hand decked Griffin for a count of eight early in the 9th, and a follow-up right kept him in trouble. It was an instinct for survival that kept Griffin on his feet trying to cope with the now-invigorated Carroll. The final round was much of the same with Griffin taking much more than he gave but Carroll by this time had punched himself out. It was a unanimous decision for the Syracuse visitor, Carroll." -Medina County Gazette
