Halid is the son of boxing trainer, former professional boxer (Kasim) Casey Puskar

Halid represented Wells Park Boxing club when he claimed his victory over Mark Carlton of Hamlin Park for the Chicago Park District 85 lb. Jr. divison title in 1979.
