Aljhami died 3 days after suffering a brain injury in his professional debut against Anthony Taylor in Youngstown, Ohio. Aljhami was knocked down three times in the first round by Taylor who was also making his pro debut, but rallied to win the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Late in the 4th and final round, Aljhami lost his balance, with out being hit, and fell into the ropes. A few moments later he passed out and lapsed into a coma and was taken to a local hospital.
