Notes
Newspaper draw from the South Bend News-Times, as stated prominently at the head of the sports page. Going into the tenth round, "Greb looked like the sure winner." Wiggins put on a rally in the tenth, causing the News-Times to call the fight a draw. However, the round-by-round description (see below), casts this view into serious doubt. Rounds one to four: "Harry clearly outpointed and outslugged (Chuck) in addition to excelling at the infighting." Round five: This was a classic slugfest, apparently close enough to call even. Round six and seven: Greb punished Wiggins, who continued to put up a good fight. Round eight: even. Round nine: "Easily Greb's round." Round ten: Wiggins fought well as "Chuck tried to retrieve the ground lost earlier in the fight. Greb came back strong in the last two minutes, as the two slugged it out. Thus, it is doubtful (from the paper's own account) that Wiggins won more than one round, with a couple even.
