The Pittsburgh Post said that Allen took a terrific drubbing. Greb met him in the 1st round with a terrific onslaught. Even so, Allen tried to take the offensive in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, but had to give ground both times. Allen made his best effort in the 3rd, when he fought Greb toe-to-toe for a full minute, but then had to save himself by clinching. Greb knocked Allen down in the 4th, so Whitey stalled out that round and the next. In the 6th, Greb broke Allen's jaw and the fight was stopped.
