"A short, sharp left hook thrown by Seattle's Harry (Kid) Matthews, 176, Friday night accentuated his challenge for the light heavyweight and heavyweight championships of the world. The pile-driver smash knocked out Lloyd Marshall, 173 1/2, of Cleveland at 2:25 after their scheduled 10-round main event opened. Marshall was the first to land a solid blow. He stung Matthews with a right to the head. A short, sharp exchange followed. They stepped apart and Marshall started a left hook - but so did Matthews. The 'Kid's' was shorter, faster and the only one that landed. It caught Marshall on the chin." -Associated Press
