According to an article in the August 15, 1907 edition of the Los Angeles Times on Newspapers.com, Harry H. Stuart, a prominent individual in Los Angeles boxing circles, was found dead in his room by his landlady at 9 pm on August 14, 1907. Among the items found in his room were an empty bottle with a bromide solution label and three written notes. Stuart wrote notes to his wife, his employer and the coroner. It was apparent that Stuart had committed suicide by swallowing bromide.
