Hattie Stewart, sometimes nick-named the female John L. Sullivan, was a well-known female boxer of the very late 1800s. She traveled throughout the boxing clubs and theaters of the United States, boxing both women and men. By 1925 she had married Thomas Gillen, an actor and former boxer himself, and was living in the Bronx, New York. Source
