"Australian junior welterweight champion Hector Thompson retained his title with a narrow 15 rounds points decision over Jeff White at Brisbane. White, who holds the Australian lightweight and welterweight titles, got within two points of Thompson on the final tally but Hector learned something about handling White's bustling style, and exploited this knowledge over the latter rounds.
