"Hedgemon Lewis, Hollywood, unloaded a left hook, knocking out Chu Chu Almazan, Mexico City, in the 8th round of their scheduled 10 round fight last night at Olympic Auditorium. Referee George Latka halted the bout at 2:02 of the round when Almazan was down with his shoulders against the ropes. Lewis won all rounds but Almazan, fighting in the US for the first time, won cheers from the crowd when he landed occasional blows in the 7th round. Almazan ended the fight with a short cut above his left eye." -Associated Press
