Ernie Lopez 146 lbs beat Hedgemon Lewis 144 lbs by TKO at 2:33 in round 10 of 10

"Ernie (Indian Red) Lopez knocked out Hedgemon Lewis in the 10th round Saturday night at the Sports Arena. The end came at 2:33 with Lewis draped helplessly against the ropes and taking everything Lopez could throw. Lewis, outboxing and outspeeding the plodding Lopez, built an early lead, but Lopez kept coming and after sweeping the 7th, 8th and 9th rounds the fierce fight was up for grabs when the 10th began. Halfway through the round the persistent Lopez made the decisive moves of the fight - rocking Lewis with a right and left volley to the jaw that left Hedgemon glassy-eyed. Sensing his opponent's distress, Lopez went for broke, raking Lewis with crisp rights and lefts to the head that made him give ground and surrender." -The L.A. Times
