Spoldi traded with Armstrong for five rounds, though he was outlanded roughly three-to-one, and was floored in the 2nd round for a brief count with a left to the head. In the 7th round, Armstrong put Spoldi down for a seven-count with a left to the face. As soon as he rose, Armstrong put him down for an eight-count with a right to the head. Armstrong then forced Spoldi to take a seat on the lower strand of the ropes for a five-count after a series of headshots. The fight was resumed, but Spoldi had little to offer in return, and the bout was stopped.
Spoldi had a bloody nose by the 2nd round, which swelled by the 4th round. Spoldi's right eye was cut in the 4th round.
