"Joe Bygraves of Jamaica retained his British Empire heavyweight championship Tuesday night with a 9th round knockout of Henry Cooper of England. The knockout came in 1:45. Bygraves, 25, weighed 202 and Cooper, 22, weighed 195 1/2. After a fairly even eight rounds during which Bygraves attacked to the body, the Jamaican dropped Cooper with a left hook to the stomach. Cooper took a nine count only to run into a smashing left as soon as he got up. He went down again in a neutral corner and the referee counted him out." -Associated Press
