- Ngoudjo returns to the ring after an absence of more than a year, as a result of the broken jaw he suffered in his fight with Juan Urango (see Herman Ngoudjo vs. Juan Urango).
- First first of Ngoudjo under the tutelage of trainer Marc Ramsay.
- Around the halfway mark of round 6, Ngoudjo lands a hard uppercut to the head of Ortiz, who turns away and starts walking back to his corner as if he no longer wants to fight. Referee Griffin decides to give him a standing eight-count at the end of wish he decides that Ortiz is in no shape to continue and calls a halt to the bout.
