Hock Keyes started his boxing career around late 1910. [1]. He was affiliated with Vallejo's Monticello Athletic Club. [2]

He is to be distinguished from Australia's George (Hock) Keys, who also had some California bouts during the early 1900s. American papers often spelled the Australian's name the same as this Vallejo lightweight.

In January 1913, Keyes returned to Vallejo from an extended tour of Oregon and Washington, where he had reportedly won most of his bouts with fellow lightweights. [3]. Those bouts have yet to be discovered.
