"Despite seconding by heavyweight champ Joe Louis, Holman Williams, 147, started late and lost a 15 round decision last night to Louis Kid Cocoa. Both negroes are high ranking contenders for the welterweight championship of Henry Armstrong. Cocoa, 147, of New Haven, Conn., was hanging on the ropes in the last round. He easily won most of the first 10 rounds but his left jab lost its efficacy in the 10th and he took a pummeling from the slugging of the Detroit boy." -Associated Press
