"Holman Williams and Kid Tunero, in a return go of twelve rounds, found Holman the master of this boxing contest. Tunero closed fast in the last two heats, but Holman carried off the duke."
-The Ring Magazine, July 1942. pg. 53
"Outboxing and outslugging his opponent, Holman Williams, 160, Detroit stablemate of Private Joe Louis, won a unanimous 12-round decision from Kid Tunero, 156 1/2, Havana, at the Coliseum last night. Although the referee and two judges agreed that Williams won handily, some in the crowd booed the decision. Williams was slow starting, but won the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Both banged away toe to toe in the 5th, and the Detroit boy held his advantage the rest of the route." -Associated Press
