Hrachik Javakhyan (born on July 6, 1984) is an Armenian lightweight boxer best known for winning silver at the 2006 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Plovdiv and reaching the semifinals of the 2008 Beijing Olympic games. Javakhyan is the first Armenian boxer to win an Olympic medal in boxing for Armenia as an independent country, taking a bronze.
Amateur career
In the semifinal of the Euros 2006 he beat Belarussian Vazgen Safaryants, in the final he lost to Russian Olympic Gold medallist Aleksei Tishchenko.
At the 2007 World Amateur Boxing Championships he qualified for the Olympics by reaching the quarterfinas.
