Hugo Kohler 164 lbs beat Roy Askevold 167 lbs by PTS in round 8 of 8

    • Norwegian middleweight Roy Askvold lost his first fight after six straight wins. Veteran Hugo Kohler (20-11-6) proved too strong and seasoned for the Norwegian. Askvold shook the visitor in the 1st, but a hard right hook promptly dropped Askvold. He got up and by the 4th he was taking lots of blows from Kohler, long uppercuts jolted his head back. In the last part of the fight Askvold gained from his better condition, but his half swings to the body didn't trouble the Austrian at all. It was too late to overcome Kohler's lead.

    This five fight card in Oslo October 12, 1965 made media history: Professional boxing was banned from Norwegian TV ever since TV was established in Norway 1960. A group of sports journalists then established a company which taped the pro fights, transfered them to film, and showed it around the country in traditional cinemas. It is believed that the next Oslo show November 23, 1965 also was taped and showed this way.
