Trueheart was one of the few Afro-Americans engaged in boxing promotion in the United States in the first decades of the 20th Century. At the time of his death, an Atlantic City newspaper identified him as a prominent leader of the Democratic Party in Atlantic City's, then largely Afro-American, northside neighborhood.
