Graduated Enid HS 1927 where he played football.

31st Mar 1931 it was announced that Dude has signed with a new manager Joe Jacobs who managed Max Schmeling. He was supposed to report to New York City then to French Lick, Indiana where Schmeling was training for Young Stribling. McCook ultimately decided to not follow through on the offer from Jacobs.

29th May 1932 it was reported Dude was going on a tour of the Orient.

After his career as a fighter Dude McCook had a long career as an official, referee and Gold Gloves administrator.

He ran a pool hall in Enid for at least 30 years and was something of a state-wide celebrity.

Was scheduled to fight Charlie Dodge of Fort Worth, on 12-17-28 in Enid, OK. Was scheduled to fight Eddie Murray of Tulsa on 12-21-28 in Hutchinson, Kansas
