_________________________________ Evaro went pro in 1946, trained at Los Angeles' Main Street Gym under Fidel LaBarba, and compiled a record of 39-1-3 as a Flyweight from 1946-49. He was to get a shot at Rinty Monahan, then World Champ, but couldn't answer the bell in time.

Henry helped the City of Hope at the Famous Legion Stadium Boxing fund raising efforts in the 1950's. He became the very first Mazda dealership owner in the USA at South El Monte, California, raised 12 kids, and was on Spanish-speaking television selling cars in Los Angeles in the 1950's and 1960's.

Henry, a Yuma native, began his career in 1934 at the age of seven. He had over 100 amateur bouts. He was tipped $100 by Robert Preston, the star of the 1940 version of BEAU GESTE filmed in Yuma. Joined the Navy in 1945, out in 1946. Henry and friends in Yuma raised about $25,000( campaign went nationally) to give to Joe Louis in the 1950's. Joe thanked them, but didn't accept the help, saying that he got himself into the mess, and had to get himself out of it.

This money stayed in a bank for nearly 25 years, and went to save a woman's life in a kidney operation. JET Magazine covered the story.
